A Simple First Step to No Hassle Coronal Preparation
Most of the dentin removed during root canal preparation is in the coronal portion of the canal—from the canal orifice to approximately 3–4 mm apically. Preparing this region first significantly improves access, shortens treatment time, and makes the remainder of the procedure more efficient.
This presentation introduces a practical approach to accomplishing this without relying on expensive rotary file systems or endodontic motors. Instead, it uses common hand instruments and burs to create an efficient and predictable coronal preparation for a no hassle apical canal preparation.
The technique utilizes:
- Two or three selected stainless steel hand files used in a specialized and unique file holder, the "EndoHandle" maximizes file efficiency with comfortable file control and canal access convenience.
- Two common burs that removes the bulk of the dentin to create the coronal tapered preparation.
- Using a newly developed slip-on hand control rotary file grip, a .08 tapered rotary file finishes the coronal preparation with reduced file stress.(RoTAC Rotary File Grips )
This simplified sequence is designed for most endodontic cases and provides an efficient, cost-effective method for preparing the coronal preparation of the canal.
